A Mike Nesmith Weekend!

Mike

For those that have known me the longest, you probably know I’ve always loved The Monkees! It was a daily thing, coming home from school and watching the show! My uncle Joe once made me a mixed tape, that my Dad and I always sung to. So it was a thrill this weekend to sing ‘Papa Genes Blues’ with Micheal Nesmith, and a crowd of other devoted fans! Photo above by Troubadour! Follow Micheal Nesmith on Video Ranch!

Because I had so much fun, I had to share a couple videos, one from the original show! And one from the concert.

Papa Genes Blues sung on The Monkees!

Pretty much what we saw Saturday, but this was recorded [Live at the Troubadour]!

I also got an autographed album and a t-shirt from the event, along with a very cool fan pin!! I also got the chance to speak with Christian Nesmith a few minutes too, that’s Mike’s eldest son!

Meet Sgt. Slaughter at Retro Con 2018!

One of my favorite moments in G.I. Joe the movie, was when Sargent Slaughter and his Marauders first appear, to train Lt.Falcon! So you can only imagine how excited I am, to see Sarge again at Retro Con 2018! If you haven’t purchased your TICKETS yet, why wait?! Join in the fun and do check out Saturday Night’s concert too!

A Sgt. Slaughter’s Marauders Toy Commercial, from the late eighties!

Straight from the Retro Con Page!

We welcome back to Retro Con a true living legend: The one and only Sgt. Slaughter!

sgtcomp5e

A wrestler for over 40 years, Sgt. Slaughter became a household name when he joined the WWF in the early 1980s with his signature “Cobra Clutch” move. Inspired by the Sarge’s drill instructor persona and wild popularity, Hasbro decided to incorporate the Sarge into their GI Joe: A Real American Hero toy line, comic, and animated series in 1985! Voicing himself, his cartoon debut was in the Season 2 Arise Serpentor Arise mini series, where we learn the Sarge is one of the GI Joe team’s greatest warriors and trainers. The character is easily a fan-favorite and is still regularly talked about by Joe fans to this day.

Sgt. Slaughter will be at the show all weekend for autograph and photo ops. We’ll have his prices up on the website very soon. Come to Retro Con and meet one of the true icons of pop culture!!

In the Wonderland Zoo,
There are certain bears who,
Stay at home every night,
Never quarrel or fight,
Ah! We don’t even bite!

So don’t yell,
Help! Help! Here come the bears,
Help! Help! Here come the bears,
Help! Help! Here come the bears,
Let’s split!

So don’t yell,
Help! Help! Here come the bears,
Help! Help! Here come the bears,

Let’s split!

Happy New Year!

Wishing everyone a Happy New Years, with some Dick Clark memories! Always loved his count downs, growing up! (On a personal note.. Sorry for my delay on blogs, it’s just been a busy holiday season! I’ve been in Ohio most the time, visiting family and friends. Then I’ve been running non stop the past three days! This is honestly my first real break. I haven’t had much time, to even check messages or to post on Instagram. But I plan to catch up soon!)
