A Kickstarter for Some Amazing Art!

The title says it all! Mark Watts has put together a Kickstarter for some Amazing art, with some Amazing discounts! G1 fans will remember Mark’s art from the original box art and collector’s sheets that came with those toys! You would have also seen Mark’s art on school supplies during the 80s too! A Must See Kickstarter: Table-Art Wall Art!

In 1995, I picked up my first boxed Shockwave… I was a huge fan of the art, and was thrilled to have this boxed Decepticon as part of my collection! Back then though, I never thought I’d meet the original artist behind that art. I can say I have now, and it’s both an honor and a thrill, to spotlight this talented man and his product!

Tony’s a huge fan of Huffer, so he had to be near the top too!

Monkey’s Emporium, London’s Number One Fun Shop!

IMG_8202

Arriving in London, I did lots of research for that perfect store that would have retro goodies and collectibles! I found such a place at the Monkey’s Emporium in the Camden market palace! The owner was so sweet, and closed the store twice just so we could take pictures and make videos from London! He was also excited about Retro Con, yes even over in London, we talk about our amazing convention! [My friends Rhonna and Meg joined us in the fun, and in the Tardis, part of the appeal while shopping in this amazing store!]

Displaying The Boys

g1.jpg

As we get ready for Retro Con 2018, I took a few minutes yesterday, to rearrange some of our collection. Our boxed G1 stuff has been buried, so I thought I’d give the Autobots a chance to shine! That loose Starscream above is one of the few TFs I have left from my childhood, most were lost years ago, to be replaced at conventions.

We have all the Autobot Cars, just don’t have enough room to display them all together right now 🙂

SandSparks copy

Meet the spectacular Spectra from Shimmeron and her exciting friends. They’re beautiful fashion dolls from outer space with shiny bodies, shimmery hair, dazzling fashions and sparkly make-up! And their astro-accessories combine beauty and fantasy, giving girls exciting fashion play with space magic!

Spectra …lacy … spacy … and out of this world!

[From my Retro Blog Archives, I share a personal favorite! I was first introduced to this doll line, through my sister Bonnie, I blame her for most of my doll related memories! Spectra and Spark pictured above!]

Mattel released the Spectra line in late 1986, a year and a half after the debut of Hasbro’s Jem line, fully expecting to capitalize on Jem’s popularity. By this time however, Jem had already peaked and was falling out of favor. Spectra was not greeted with great enthusiasm by the consumers, and never came close to Mattel’s expectations.
